Is it just me, or is Facebook getting exponentially more daunting?

I got tagged a while ago to tell 8 interesting things about myself – that alone sounded difficult.  So I put it off…and then put it off some more.  Then someone else tagged me, and it had become 16 interesting things!  A week later…25!  Now I’ve been tagged by a few different friends for a survey–and the number of questions is up to 48!  Egads.  And I really was going to take a stab at it (before I got tagged for the 96-question round, you know), but then I looked at the questions and so many of them are variations on “What is your favorite_____?”

I don’t know what it is, but I can’t choose favorites.  Ice cream flavor, music, color, movie…heaven forfend, book!   If you ask me what my favorite ____ is, I just squirm.  Inside I’m thinking, Well, I love X…but then I love Y, for entirely different reasons…which do I love more?…I don’t know!…And then there’s Z!…What about Z??….Why must I choose?…I can’t handle this much cognitive dissonance within my fragile psyche! *tessa implodes*

So if you have been sweet enough to tag me lately, and I have not responded…this may be why.  Sorry!  It’s not you, it’s me.

I have to admit I feel no guilt about ignoring tags–and I especially admit no guilt about not passing on tags.

Besides, I can’t even pick what I want for lunch. How on earth am I supposed to pick a favorite ice cream?!

It not so much the tagging that gets me it’s the fact that it seems to expand expodentially. I just can’t keep up or figure out different ways to answer the same question over and over again. I do, however, enjoy reading other people’s factoids.

So fear not, I’ll neither tag you or feel even the remotest bit insulted or left out if you don’t tag back. Really. It’s only Facebook for goodness sake.

@Santa: Feel free to tag me! Just…um…don’t get mad if I don’t follow through? It’s kind of fun to get tagged, I just never know how to respond. But I do enjoy reading other people’s responses, too.

@Courtney Milan:Even when I do post the 8 or 64 or however many things, I usually don’t tag anyone to pass it along. But I do feel guilty. 🙁

I have no freakin’ time to write my WIP, much less 25 things about me.

I love the new website! So profession. I’m excited just looking at it!!!!!!

Hey- on your main page, the ‘click here to send this link to a friend’ didn’t work for me. Maybe it’s my security settings? Just wanted to let you know.

Hi, Leigh! Thanks for dropping by, and thanks for the website love! As for the link on the main page… hm. I think it opens as a pop-up. do you have those blocked? I’ll do some checking myself. Thanks for mentioning it!

Yes! I feel the same way. Choosing favorites is totally daunting. If I pick chocolate, will strawberry feel left out? Eek! And the box list one– I think I got it from three different people. Am I supposed to fill out all three? They’re the same questions, but with different x’s next to them…so color me confused, LOL. 🙂

I know I’m a little late to the party seeing as this blog post is from last week. However I was thrilled to learn that I am not the only one who does not care for “tagging.”

    Happy writing!

Sorry I’m late, but I had to chime in. I feel the exact same way. About favorites and about Facebook. I ignore most requests and tags. There just isn’t enough time.

And I can never pin down a favorite anything. I just don’t see why we have to have a favorite anything. What does it change? I like lots of colors and books and characters and shows. The whole point of this bountiful world is that we don’t have to settle for just one of anything!

    Hey, Jennifer, Sarah, and Terri!

I’m so glad to know I’m not the only one who has trouble thinking up interesting things about herself, or choosing favorites.

Okay, I can think of one favorite. I have a favorite man.

Okay, and like any good P&P fangirl, I have a favorite Darcy.

No, they aren’t the same person!
