No, this isn’t a post about the holidays. It’s just that I recently realized my WIP (aka GOTH, FYI) now features both a partridge and a pear tree. Although the partridge is not in said pear tree, thankfully. Well, perhaps not thankfully. The partridge is dead.

Egads, this gets worse and worse, doesn’t it? You are all going to be dying to read this thing by the time I finish it, just for the laughs.

Anyway, I hit a bit of a block around the 30,000-word mark, possibly because I couldn’t figure out a way to set my lords a-leaping and my ladies dancing, and I decided to – *gasp* – SKIP AHEAD. Actually, I was inspired by CM to do so.

Really, when I read a romance novel, there always comes a point where I just can’t take the suspense and the angst and the misunderstandings or intrigue or whathaveyou – and then I flip to the end, to reassure myself that everything comes out fine. Why should writing one be any different?

Good way to solve the problem. I can’t wait to read everyone’s WIP! I know I encountered tiffany at Morgan’s Crits (an erotic romance critique group) and have been enjoying her Lupiscoeur manuscript.

    Happy writing!

And a partridge in a peeeeaaaar trreeee.

Can’t wait for you to post your WIP somewhere.

My pace, have you, is thankfully due to the fact that I work from home and I squeeze in any chance I get to write. I literally take my laptop to bed and prop it up on my lap and write until I go to sleep. Also, I barely ever watch tv.

I’ve never been this focused about writing ever and I certainly have never written a manuscript of 211 pages (that’s where I am). I just am so determined to finish this time.

And for someone who said you didn’t know whether you had the commitment to do a manuscript, you’re doing a darn good job!

    Keep writing!

However you write, whatever works for you, is good. I, personally, can’t write non-linearly. Which probably isn’t a word. Shh.

The second I write a scene ahead, my brain fills in the gap and actually writing it bores me to tears.

So, the part you skipped to… was it the naughty bits? When I jump ahead, that’s generally what I end up writing.

Yes, Alice Audrey – it was a naughty bit. 😉 But also a lovey bit. The best kind of bit, IMO.

And Sara, that is my biggest fear about skipping, but I was getting a bit desperate. I needed to put my h/h together and let them figure out how to love each other. Now that they have, I feel soooo much better about the whole thing.
